Went to a birthday party for two friends last night and there were about 10 of us around a table and we were talking about how this year has gone so fast and that it is already HALF over.   Do you believe time is going so fast?

So we need more listings to make our second half of 2018 our best ever.  So how can we do that?

By talking to everyone you know about real estate.

Sounds easy, right?

Not for some people.  I talk to agents all the time who are afraid to even tell people what they do.

Epic listing agents tell EVERYONE who they meet what they do.  And you don’t have to be a sleazeball about it either. 

It is so easy to work real estate into conversations and work the fact that you need referrals into conversations as well.

For example, I was at this dinner last night and one person, who was visiting my friend from England, asked what I did for a living.  I told him I am a real estate broker in San Francisco.  He started talking about SF real estate and then everyone else started talking about it.

And then I pulled out my favorite line.

“Our problem with SF real estate is that we don’t have enough listings to sell, so if you know anyone selling, please let me know, so we can get more buyers into their dream homes.”

And guess what?  One person who is more of an acquaintance than a friend piped up and told me about their friend who is considering selling an apartment building and they are going to introduce me to them.  BAAM!

So you’re mentioning a problem and then asking others to help you solve the problem.

It’s much better than saying, “I need referrals, you know anyone?”

So try this out, it’s easy, it’s not pushy and, for me, it comes naturally to me to say.

You may have your own variations on this or something else entirely.

The point is that you should always be letting everyone you know in your life what you do and what you need.

If you don’t ask for it, you’ll never get it.
