I hope you had an amazing weekend! I am SO grateful that we signed a big listing that is coming on the market in the next month or so once we fix it up. And SO grateful I was able to spend some downtime with myself.
One of the things I was reflecting on this weekend is the importance of fiercely guarding our time and not losing track of our goals and what’s important in life. We all do so much in our business life that doesn’t correlate directly to making money.
If you’re an Agent Unleashed, getting listings is the lifeblood of your business.
And yet, we all, myself included waste so much time chasing things that are not going to get us to our goals in our business or our life.
- Acceptance on social media.
- Seeking prestige which has nothing to do with our self-worth.
- Doing busy things in the belief that will get us toward our goals, like working on our real estate files.
You get the point. We all have to be more judicious in how we use our time.
This is nothing new. In fact, it goes over 2,000 years: Roman philosopher Seneca’s spectacular 2,000-year-old treatise “On the Shortness of Life” — a poignant reminder of what we deep down know is true and yet we easily forget.
Seneca writes: “It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements if it were all well invested. But when it is wasted in heedless luxury and spent on no good activity, we are forced at last by death’s final constraint to realize that it has passed away before we knew it was passing. So it is: we are not given a short life but we make it short, and we are not ill-supplied but wasteful of it… Life is long if you know how to use it.”
I guess this is a more metaphysical type of post, but you get it.
You know what you need to do.
You know how you have to do it.
Just keep reminding yourself to do what you have to do to get listings and to make your life a piece of art and don’t chase the wrong things.
