A good friend and past client just asked me to do something I have never done before. He’s on the board of directors of a non-profit that helps foreigners who are persecuted in other countries for their sexual or religious views. It’s a wonderful organization that does good work.
And he told me they would advertise my listing broker business if I would host a cocktail fundraising party.
I said sure!
I love throwing parties anyway. And if this is your cup of tea, then you could do the same.
I started thinking of all the fun we can ALL have if we all supported non-profit organizations by hosting events in their honor.
Just think of it, we can promote the non-profit, make them a lot of money and promote ourselves in the process.
Some of you might think this way of thinking is self-serving. But what’s wrong with getting referrals from promoting a non-profit?
You are doing great work bringing the mission of the organization to the eyes of people who normally wouldn’t be reached.
And if a little referral or two fall into your lap because you are the organizer, well, that’s a good thing.
Two birds, one stone kind of thing.
And don’t you still get a higher place in heaven?
