Don’t Burn Bridges for Listings

Was at a listing appointment yesterday with some sellers I didn’t know.  We went in, saw the place and sat down and talked about price.  We started talking about all the people we know in common and surprisingly, found out the people across the hall gave us a glowing recommendation.

Why this is surprising is that those owners across the hall had a bad experience when we sold that condo to them (it wasn’t our fault).  In addition, they were VERY difficult buyers  (ever have buyers that think they know more than you?).

These guys said how wonderful we were, what a pleasure it was to work with us and they couldn’t have done it without us. 

Ugh?

You could have pushed me over with a feather.

In spite of these buyers being major jackasses, I always called them and sent them typical COI materials.

They were such strong referrals for us, that the sellers we were sitting in front of told us they didn’t need a CMA and to just list the condo.  Easiest listing appointment I was ever on.  In and out in 20 minutes.

So the moral of the story is Epic listing agents don’t burn bridges with your jackass clients, even when they piss you off.  They may come to your rescue one day.
