I was talking to a dear friend yesterday and she made a great point about making choices in life and how to manage them. You see, there is no sense in managing your time, that is not the right way to think about it. Time keeps ticking away and you can’t control it.
You can only manage your choices as they relate to time.
This really applies to all areas in your life, but as it relates to finding more listings, here are a couple of ideas to get you on the right track:
Consolidate your information. The first step in managing your choices is capturing the information that bombards you each day, such as emails, appointments and meetings and text messages. Too often, we all try to keep so much info in our heads. Keep all your tasks in one place using lists, like Evernote, to stay organized.
Start small with what you know is important. You know what you need to do to get listings. Call your SOI. Send out a mailer. Call expireds or FSBOs. Whatever you decide to do, new routines take 21 days to be a habit. Start small, for instance, start by calling your SOI for only 15 minutes a day. Everyone can find 15 minutes to call. And do it consistently, every day, 5 days a week. Make it a habit. With time and consistency, you will develop more confidence and you will want to do more.
Set up alarms. Often, we commit to do something and then get busy with something else. Set an alarm on your phone. Write a to-do list or use post-it notes placed in places where you’ll see them. Make sure you pay attention to them.
Find someone to call you on your own BS. Find an accountability partner. Find another agent to discuss your weekly goals with and then report back to them under penalty of death. I have had accountability partners my whole life. They work, so use them.
