Hell no.
Had an interesting question from a real estate agent from Stockton California I met at a dinner this past weekend. She asked, “Why do you only concentrate on helping listing agents?”
I was sort of dumbfounded by the question because I just assumed all agents want to be listing agents.
And my whole focus is to help agents be better listing agents.
And working with buyers can be rewarding for some agents, but not for me.
I remember once, when I first started in the business over 25 years ago, a buyer actually called me at 6 a.m. on a Saturday morning and wanted me to show him property that morning at 8 a.m.
I thought, “This is bullshit.”
Working with sellers is so much more rewarding:
. Once the house is ready for sale, it’s easy to schedule showings to your schedule that’s convenient for you.
. You are always part of the deal. If a buyer falls out of escrow, they may not buy again if they are disgusted with the market.
. You can have more deals and listings going at the same time because they require less work than shuttling buyers around in your car.
. You have heard the expression that “buyers are liars”?
Now, of course, if a buyer falls into my lap, I will work with them, especially if they are from an important referral or a past client. But I can have my buyer’s agent spend most of the time with them.
This frees me up to prospect for more sellers.
So, if you’re not there yet, consider concentrating on being more of a listing agent.
I think that’s the sweet spot in working in real estate.
So be an Epic listing agent.
