Going through a tough LONG escrow that just seems to never end. This one has been going on for 4 months now and it looks like we might close in a week and a half. And at this point, my seller wants me and the buyer’s agent to chip in part of our commission to address some silly thing the buyer wants.
I said no.
Aside from the fact that we have been working our asses off for 4 MONTHS on this one, why should the agents have to make concessions for something that wasn’t out fault?
In 25 years of selling real estate I have learned one thing.
Cutting your commission to make a deal happen is almost ALWAYS the wrong thing to do.
Almost ALWAYS.
If you refuse to do it, the seller and buyer usually will figure something out themselves. AS IT SHOULD BE.
Use your broker as a backstop and say they won’t let you do it if you have to.
But stand up for yourself.
Value your time and your worth.
Because if you can’t do it, no one will.
