Woke up yesterday morning with bad allergies and felt like shit. That monkey on my back was telling me not to prospect and I listened to him for a long time. But I finally overruled it and made all my SOI calls and my new and old expired calls and then went back to bed for a nap.
And last night I was talking to a coaching client and for the life of me, I cannot get her to commit to a consistent time to prospect. She said it’s not in her DNA to prospect at the same time each day. Consequently, her prospecting is erratic.
Here is the thing. As an Epic listing agent or even as a mediocre listing agent, you HAVE to prospect for new listings consistently. Consistently is the operative word.
I don’t care what that time is, but you have to set a time each day, Monday to Friday, and get off your happy butt and make calls. Or door knock. Or do online marketing. Or send out marketing pieces. Or stand in the middle of your busiest street in a clown outfit and an A-frame sign.
Whatever time and method you use, do it consistently.
You are a salesperson. There, I said. Some of you try to sugarcoat it.
You are in sales. Period.
Salespeople spend 80% of their day prospecting. Ask any successful insurance agent, or a medical salesperson, they will tell you this.
Do I feel like prospecting every day? No! But it’s a habit now and, quite frankly, if I don’t do it, I feel bad about my day.
So figure out a way to make this your habit every day. You HAVE to do this for your business, your family and your peace of mind.
Epic listing agents know this is one of the most important habits of their day.
